Entry into this display was by invitation
The WOW exhibit travels the world promoting friendship between different countries and cultures through the common bond of quilting. The resulting exhibit has brought understanding of cultural differences in the countries involved and at the same time highlighted how similar we are along with how important friendship is. We may not speak the same language, but quilting is an international language on its own.
Every artist recieved 3 fabrics from each country. The below are the samples of these fabrics. From top to bottom in fabric groupings of 3 each Turkey, USA, Japan, and Australia.
Exhibit Rules
Each country will invite 8 quilter artists to participate.
3 different fat quarters of fabric and one embellishment charm will be supplied from each country to each participant.
Challenge outline:
1. Choose a Friendship slogan or saying as your inspiration.
2. Design a wall hanging no smaller than 30 inches on each side or 120 inches around the outer edge. At least 2 fabrics from each country need to be included with the charms.
3. You can add up to 3 of your own fabric choices.
The completion date will be March 2009.
